Watercourse regularization is the brench of the hydrotechnical constructions which deals with the study of the river bed behaviour and influencing it towards the desired direction.

The final scope of the watercourse regularization works is creating an equilibrium between the current and the water bed, without disturbing the natural behavoiur of the river.

The natural behavoiur of the river bed could be described as the natural phenomenons that occure due to the flow of the liquid, the solid and the ice, as it follows:

• bank and water bed erosion in case of high speed – river deposits;
• river deposits in the sections where the water speed decreases under certain values;
• due to the erosion process and the river deposits, the course of the river and also its longitudinal section changes through the years.

The hydraulic analysis, both in natural and landscaped regime, is being performed using Hec Ras software, dedicated to the hydrodynamic modeling of the watercourse.

Starting from the cross sections through the river bed, we can determine their hydraulic characteristics, the maximum water level and also the floodable areas.
